Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

AutoCAD Basic.

The first version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Basic, was released in 1983 and was designed to run on the Apple Macintosh with a Motorola 68000 CPU and internal Motorola 128K RAM memory. The company’s first edition of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Basic, ran on a PC with 4 MB RAM and used a PDS II (computer graphics adapter) for drawing on paper. The price for AutoCAD Basic was $4,995 (the 1984 U.S. price). [The actual sale price was higher.]

The basic release of AutoCAD Basic came in the form of a floppy disk and a manual. During the first year, over 100 companies using AutoCAD Basic. Sales were strong, but the actual market was small. Only a small percentage of the PC market was using graphics software at the time, so AutoCAD Basic was not sold widely.

Autodesk Software Corporation

The first version of AutoCAD was a software development kit, released in 1983, that provided a sophisticated drawing tool and a drawing-paper design interface. The kit used the Apple Macintosh computer with 128K RAM and Motorola 68000 CPU. Its first release was in December 1982. The kit sold for $2,995, which was much higher than any other similar kit available at the time. The program was initially called “AutoDraft.”

AutoCAD was not released as a commercial software package until 1988. Its next release was AutoCAD 11, a 32-bit development platform that was designed for large-scale PC-based product development and drafting. In 1990, it was ported to the Windows operating system and became the first commercial CAD program to run on Windows. It was also available as a mobile app for the iOS mobile platform.

By the mid-1990s, it was clear that the PC market was moving toward a new generation of systems with more powerful graphics adapters and larger memory. The cost of a typical PC with 4 MB RAM and a video card was around $5,000. The average retail price for AutoCAD was $1,500-$2,000.

AutoCAD was the first 3D CAD software. In 1993, Autodesk developed the first operating system-independent 3D modeling software, which was bundled with the original release of AutoCAD in 1989. The software, called 3D Studio, was later renamed

If AutoCAD is closed while the user is in a drawing, the drawing may become corrupt, or may even fail to open because of a bug in AutoCAD. The problem can be prevented by holding down the shift key while AutoCAD is closed.

AutoCAD currently supports a variety of protocols for automation, including VNC, ActiveSync, FTP, Internet Explorer automation, HTTP, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), and the Microsoft Virtual Machine (VM) Protocol.

Digital Ink™ is the name given to the document creation and editing technology used in AutoCAD by Autodesk.

Autodesk software products that work with Autodesk Inventor work with a special design interface tool called the Graphical Editing Toolbox, or GECTB, and a tool called the Drafting Toolbox.

AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT support most of the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) features of traditional desktop publishing applications (like Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Pagemaker), such as inserting and modifying images and text, resizing text and image fonts, drawing shapes, editing and coloring and adding colors and other graphics effects, and creating pages from text and images. An effect called “live graphics” can be used to animate objects in the design. The software also supports various non-WYSIWYG features, such as editing of XREF tables, text boxes and shapes with the help of brushes, importing and exporting 3D objects, and creating and editing DWG files.

Other technologies
The number and types of technologies used by AutoCAD, however, exceed the WYSIWYG and non-WYSIWYG features listed above. They include (but are not limited to):
Character and Text Functions

A variety of character-based drawing functions such as text, ruler, line, polyline, spline and arc. These functions support a wide variety of character types, including text, symbols, raster, and vector-based characters.
Drawing Tools

A variety of tools, including sketch, ellipse, rectangle, freeform polyline, freeform polygon, true dimension, and combination of these tools.
Layout Tools

A variety of layout tools, such as Insert, Delete, Move, Rotate, Scale, and change text size.

Wait until the licence is validated.

By default the Autocad License expires 30 days after the activation of the software

To extend the licence validity, you need to activate an Autocad activation key.
After installation, Autocad will create a random key in the ‘Gen’ folder of the installation folder.
This key is used for the lifetime of Autocad.

You can save this key in any format you like, for example as a text file,
using a data carrier (CD, DVD, USB drive, etc…).
If the key is lost, just activate it using the license code received by email from Autocad.

You can validate the license with the following URL :

License validation takes some time, so please be patient.

How to install it :
Download the MSI installer from the following URL.

Download the newest version.

Run the installer with administrator rights.

After installation, use the ‘open’ button to run the autocadsetup.exe file.

To launch Autocad, select Autocad from the start menu.

Problem with history of changes in the file

My files are accessed in a history-like fashion. When I open a file and change it, I am taken to the change. If I quit the editor and re-open the file, the history doesn’t show the latest change. What’s going on?

Bash shell access history is not a faithful copy of the history you’d have in your editor. This is for a couple of reasons:

The shell does not track all the editing going on in a file, only the last 25 commands. If you opened the file and edited it, it will pick up on the edited portion, but there may be commands in the history which have nothing to do with the edited file

What’s New In AutoCAD?

Convert colored text to black and white, and vice versa, in one go. The new Color Manager can also import colors from a different document with more precision. (video: 1:12 min.)

Extend printing in the Preview mode with a new feature called Sticky Notes. Print the value of a measurement annotation, or another annotation that can be changed, in the Notes pane and be reminded of it in the next print preview. (video: 0:43 min.)
